The Atlantic 10 Conference's 2018-2019 Men's Basketball season is entering into the home stretch. Teams are jockeying for position at the conference tournament which will be held at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. The arena is home to the NBA's Brooklyn Nets and the NHL's New York Islanders.
This conference has a reputation among college basketball followers and journalists as one of the better non-football conferences in America. It has sent multiple teams to the NCAA tournament in the past. The 2014 tournament saw the A10 net six bids. This is a conference with a rich history that includes legendary coaches like John Calipari at UMass and John Chaney at Temple. Phil Martelli's 2004 Saint Joseph's team almost went undefeated in their rampage to the Elite 8.
VCU from Richmond, Virginia is currently having a good year. They are poised for a top four seed. The Rams have been known for over a decade for their attacking press defense which often forces turnovers. They have made the postseason consistently. George Mason University from Fairfax, Virginia is another team having a good year. The Patriots are led by senior guard Otis Livingston. They also get solid play from Junior Justin Kier and Freshman Jordan Miller. Mason is on pace for a top 4 seed. Davidson University from North Carolina is being led by Sophomore Kellan Grady who is leading the team with 16 points a game.
The Atlantic 10 tournament will be played at the Barclays Center from March 13th to the 17th. The top 4 teams get byes to the 15th. The lower seeded teams have to play more games. The games are televised on the NBC Sports Network, CBS, and the CBS Sports Network.
This is one of the better leagues out there. Teams that get into the Field of 68 from the A10 are usually very competitive against their opponents.
