Politics Odds

American politics in recent years has become very polarized. There are some factors that go into that. One is the rise of twenty four hour cable news networks like MSNBC and Fox News which cater to their respective audiences. Another reason is the large role negative ads play in campaigns. Social media also contributes to the state of our politics. The President of the United States likes to get on his twitter account and attack Democrats.

It can be said that the two parties, the democrats and the republicans, are like two professional sports teams battling it out. This year is the midterm election. This election is held at the midway point of a President's four year term. All four hundred and thirty five seats in the House of Representatives are up for election. Certain United States Senate seats are up for election as well.

There are certain factors to weigh when one bets on politics. You can study approval ratings, polls, and analysis. The Democrats are currently favored to win the House. The battle for the Senate is a very tight horse race that will probably provide the most drama on election night November 6th 2018. Only two recent Presidents have gained Congressional seats in a midterm election. One was Bill Clinton in 1998. The American people felt his Republican opposition overreached by investigating his personal life. The Democrats gained 5 House seats that year. The second example is President George W. Bush in 2002. The country had a large feeling of national unity after 9/11. This netted the Republicans 8 House seats and 2 Senate seats.

Just like in sports you can do a futures bet. One option is to bet on who you think will win the 2024 Race for the White House. Some of the probable candidates on the Democratic side include former Vice President Joe Biden, California Senator Kamala Harris, New Jersey Senator Cory Booker, and Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders. Perhaps, you like the job President Trump is doing and want to bet on his re-election. That is an option as well.

Add some excitement to your election night with a bet!
