The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference is located in the NYC metropolitan area. Members of the conference include Buffalo's Canisius College, Connecticut's Fairfield University, Iona College in New Rochelle, New York, Manhattan College, Marist, Monmouth U, Niagara, Quinnipiac in Connecticut, Rider U, Siena College and Saint Peter's University in Jersey City.
This conference has a strong history. Legendary coach Jim Valvano coached Iona before going onto national fame at NC State in the 1980s. Saint Peter's had Keydren Clark, the number one scorer in the nation, during the mid 2000s. Manhattan had a volatile and angry coach by the name of Bobby Gonzalez in the 2000s who later went on to infamy at Seton Hall University.
The 2019 MAAC Men's Basketball Conference Tournament will be held in Albany, New York from March 7th to the 11th 2019. Parity has been the story this year for the MAAC. No one team has distinguished themselves from the rest of the pack. Most of the teams are below .500 in terms of overall record.
ESPN Bracketologist Joe Lunardi and others have projected the winner of the MAAC conference to potentially get around a 15 or 16 seed in the 2019 NCAA Men's Basketball Championship. This low seed is due to the fact the conference winner might very well be a below .500 team. There is also the probability the MAAC conference tournament winner might have to play another 16 seed in a First Four play in game.
The MAAC Tournament figures to be a real craps shoot. The team people expect to win might not win. There might be value in picking underdogs to win games if you are feeling bold. Another strategy to possibly employ when betting the MAAC tournament would be simply betting on the higher seeds to win their games. Higher seeds are usually better than lower seeds however this isn't always the case. Upsets can and do happen.
Both the online and real world sports books will have MAAC conference tournament games. Have some fun this March by betting on the MAAC tournament.
