Big 12 Conference Men’s Basketball Tournament Betting Preview
The Big 12 conference is home to some of the heavyweights in division one men's college basketball. It draws it's membership from midwestern states. Texas, Iowa, Kansas, Oklahoma, and West Virginia are home to the conference's ten members.
Kansas University is known for it's excellence at men's basketball. The Jayhawks have been to Eight Final 4s since 1988. A Kansas Alum by the name of Dr. James Naismith actually created the game of basketball. Kansas recently purchased the original rules document and put it in a special building on campus. West Virginia's hoops history includes Jerry West. This man is the individual the NBA based it's logo off of.
Their conference tournament will be held at Kansas City's Sprint Center from March 13th to March 16th. Conference members Kansas, Texas Tech, Iowa State, and Kansas State are currently nationally ranked in the weekly top 25 poll which ranks the best teams in America. The Jayhawks started out the season really highly ranked and encountered some struggles.
Texas is worth keeping an eye on. They have a great young coach in Shaka Smart. He brings a lot of energy to the sideline. Kerwin Roach is leading the team with 14 points a game. The Longhorns only lost by two at Kansas which is known as one of the toughest places to win in college basketball partly due to the passionate fans who chant rock chalk jayhawk.
Online sports books will have individual daily game lines for each day of the Big 12 tournament. It is safe to say that the Big 12 is wide open this year in the sense that any team could win it. It's not like in recent years where Kansas has stood head and shoulders above the rest of the Big 12 conference.
